Write about a character as they deal the killing blow to their greatest foe. Does this foe have any last words? What is left for this character to do, now that their enemy has been defeated? What purpose is there for a warrior who has no wars to fight?
And that was the last of it. Mikhael let the needle drop to the floor. He knew the paralytic compound would hit his heart in about 3 minutes. Vaguely, he wondered what his mother would think of him now, strewn across the floor of the abandoned apartment. Surely his landlady would be back tomorrow to collect the rent. He had withdrawn his entire bank account, but knew it wasn't enough for the 3 months of rent he now owed. Still, he’d left a letter for the landlady with the entirety of his savings – a measly $450 – and had given her the rights to sell everything he in the apartment to try to make up the difference. his body. He was surprised at his own
alarm, and frowned, knowing his lungs would stop working next. But it’s over, he thought. He wouldn't have to fight the world off
anymore. He wouldn't have to make himself go to work to earn money that wasn't enough to live on anyway. He wouldn't have to get spit on by the
opposing team at the games where he sold treats. He wouldn't have to know that he couldn't provide food and an education for his daughter.
When
he could no longer breathe in, the stillness rolled over his body. He realized how strange it was to not be able
to do something so simple, then thought that was a strange thought to
have. He also noticed he could no longer
move, and he wished he could have held Anna one last time. He just wanted to hold her close. Tell her goodbye. Wanted to tell her he loved her. He wanted to s
